For installing IIS in your vista operating system firstly you will need knowing this, that IIS not come with all vista flavors.

- Windows Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate come with IIS 7

- Windows Vista Home Premium comes with IIS 7

- Windows Vista Home Edition does not support PWS or IIS

If you find that, your vista comes with IIS.

Then, go to Control Panel, and then click on Programs. And click on “Turn Windows features on or off” link in Programs and Feature section.

Select Internet information services check box and then click ok button and wait (Times depends on your system & hardware Configuration)

Now open your browser and type localhost and enter, you’ll see the new default page like this…

If you want to test or run your .asp file

open this location C:\inetpub\wwwroot

Now copy your .asp file on this location and after this, open your browser and type your address such as -

http://localhost/filename.asp

or

http://127.0.0.1/filename.asp

But some say it is good and others are bad. After listen this type of things, I decide write something about in this matter and what the strategy that may you  follow according to your work and choose batter option,so that you decide what is good and what bed is, for you.

When you attach your pen drive with your pc, an auto play popup display on your screen and ask you what do you want?

This is very good option when you attach pen drive because you don’t need to double click your computer icon and then double click your pen drive icon.

But according to today’s scenario Autoplay option is not secure for your system.

The main drawbacks of autoplay option is that, pen / flash or any USB drive are the big source to spread virus between computer and most of the virus work with auto play option because writer of the virus also know this things.

So this is a good choice for you to disabled pen / flash drive auto play option.

You can permanently disable your system auto play option but in this situation every time you need to open your drive with many clicks.

I know that, this type of setting can slow your work but in the bases of your Pc infected by any virus. This may be good deal for you.

Follow these instructions to disable autoplay option

Open control panel > classic view (top left side) > and double click on Autoplay icon.

Unselect “Use Autoplay for all media and devices” check box

And click on save button.

If you think that you don’t need disabled autoplay all time.

Ok, you can do this, But in this situation transfer data only trusted source or you know confidently and believe that pen/ flash/Usb drive don’t have any virus or malicious code.

Or you can also do other things if you know which people or friend ‘s pen / flash drive always have virus, and Every time when you attach your pen / flash drive, press and hold the Shift key, this will disable the auto play dialog box. Holding down the Shift key will also block the applications that starts automatically (mostly virus).

But now you can shut down your pc in just one click, take some instruction and after this you are ready for it.

Navigate to your desktop. On the desktop, right-click and go to New, then to Shortcut.

Now you see a pop-up window.
Copy & paste below command in “Type Location of the Item”

SHUTDOWN -s -t 01

Click the “Next” button. Name the shortcut and click the “Finish” button. Now whenever you want to shut down, just click on this shortcut and you’re done.

To abort the shutdown in progress, at the command prompt, type shutdown -a. or you can also create shortcut like one click shutdown.

Create new shortcut and Copy & paste below command in “Type Location of the Item”

Shutdown -a

Mostly users always use c drive for installing windows operating system.
But If the C: drive is not your installed windows drive, and then first replaces “C” with the correct letter of the hard drive. For changing your drive letter right click your created shutdown shortcut and open properties and replace your drive letter with your installed windows drive.

If you want to shut down your system after some time or any specific time period

The valid range is 0-600, with a default of 30.

Shutdown -s -t <time in seconds>

Shutdown -s

Your system will be shutdown in 30 seconds.

Shutdown -s -t 300

When you use this command your system will be shut down in 5 minutes.

Shutdown -s -t 600

When you use this command your system will be shut down in 10 minutes.

You can also customize one click shutdown icon because by default it don’t have any icon

For changing icon right click your created shutdown shortcut and open properties and click change icon button, and choose your desire icon.

You can also change your one click shutdown icon location and save some space from your desktop, this is more handy to move from desktop to quick launch in taskbar.

You can also do same thing with one keyboard key, just press power button form your keyboard (mostly top right side) , but you don’t abort the shutdown progress after use this power button.

Follow these instructions-

Browse C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\
Find the file named “HOSTS”
Open it in notepad
under “127.0.0.1 local host” and add website like this-

127.0.0.1 www.example.com

127.0.01 example.com

If you want to block example.com, add both line your hosts file because some of the website  also open without www.

http://www.example.com

http://example.com

If you don’t edit your file directly in windows vista & seven, first you need to copy your hosts  file in other drive( except c drive) and then edit and replace your hosts file with original host file.

You can also understand with this example you can see here when you want to block orkut, add both domain -

www.orkut.com

www.orkut.co.in – it is a default domain for Indian region.

Now check your browser and that site will no longer be accessible.

When you use this way your file always goes into the same place where your file present before deleted.

If you want to restore your file in new location, just chose your file or folder which you want to restore and drag & drop your desire location.

This tip also work with Windows 7 & windows xp

In this condition Vlc player is good choice for every one , which is available with nice theme / skin collection for users.

But sometimes theme creates some problems and don’t work according to your choice and in this condition you have only one way that switch back to your original theme and vlc  configuration.

For restoring  original VLC skin and configuration follow these steps.

Click Start button and Type VlC in search bar then click on Reset VLC media player preferences and cache files

Now click on ok button and start your VlC player.

This tutorial also work for window -7, All vista version.

Ok you can do this with two methods

First method: Through the Local Group Policy Editor (More Easy)
Follow these steps:
1. Click on the Start Menu.
2. In the Search bar, type gpedit.msc and press Enter
Or
Press Window Logo + R type gpedit.msc and press Enter.

3. Click Continue for the UAC prompt. (If you have active the UAC service)

4. (In the left pane) click on User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and Windows Explorer.
5. (In the right pane) Double Click on Hide these specified drives in My Computer.
6. Click on Enabled Radio button and choose your drive which you want to hide then click on apply and ok.

7. If you have already hide drive one or all and this time you want to unhide choose
Don’t restrict all drives
Or
Click on not configured Radio button then apply and ok
And After this log off or restart your system.

You can also use this in Window xp

Note: First method is good for you if you want to hide C or D single drive or hide your all drive but if you want to hide other hard drive like E, F or G or you want to hide only F drive or G drive you don’t this Through the Local Group Policy Editor but you can do this with change registry setting.

Second method: Through the Registry (Easy)
Use this method when first method is not work for you:
1. Click on the Start Menu.
2. In the Search bar, type regedit and press Enter
Or
Press Window Logo + R type regedit and press Enter.
3. Click Continue for the UAC prompt. (If you have active the UAC service)
4. In regedit go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
5. In the right pane of Explorer, right click on an empty area and click on New and DWORD (32-bit) Value and type NoDrives (without any space) and press Enter.

6.  Right click on NoDrives and click Modify.

7. Now you can use these value which drive you want to hide.

please choose value according to base if you choose Hexadecimal use hexadecimal value but if you want to choose Decimal value use Decimal value.

8. Close Regedit And Logoff and logon again, or restart the computer to apply changes.

To unhide drives –
In the right pane of Explorer, right click on NoDrives and click Delete and yes to confirm delete.
Close Regedit And Logoff and logon, or restart the computer to apply changes.

Follow these steps to active task manger option again-
1.Go to Start > Run or Window Logo + R, Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
2.In the resulting window navigate to the folder.
3.”User Configuration” -> “Administrative Templates” -> “System” -> “Ctrl+Alt+Del Options“.
4.in the right side of the screen Select Remove Task Manager option.
5.Double-click the Remove Task Manager option.
6.Choose Disabled radio button in window then click apply and ok.
And now you can check your task manager option again

Right click on volume icon in notification area and then select open volume Mixer.
Where you found your browser icon (Firefox, internet explorer, opera or Safari) and then click mute button or you can increase / decrease website volume.

I think ,this is so boring and waste more time and it’s more serious, if you have long list.But you can use this trick and solve your problem.

Create multiple folders in same folder / Directory :-
Open Dos or command prompt (Press window logo +R, type cmd and enter)
You can understand with this example.
Create 5 folders in D drive (one, two, three, four, and five) name
D:\>md one two three four five

But if you have folder name with space or more than one word like “one folder” or “one new folder “

D:\>md “new folder” “one new folder”
You can also use this command, if you want to create single word and multi word name folder together
D:\>md one two “one folder” five “one new folder”

After this ,when you open D drive you find all 5 folders (one, two, one folder, five and one new folder)

Create sub folder :-
Open Dos or command prompt (Press window logo +R, type cmd and enter) here you understand with this example.
If you want to create folder like this
D:\first\second\third\forth
Use this command on command prompt
D:\>md first\second\third\forth
If you want to use folder name with space
D:\first new\second new\third\
You can use this command
D:\>md “first new”\”second new”\third
you can also use mkdir command place of md command
